May 21, 2009-June 1, 2021 RIP Nacho, the Best Chihuahua Ever

0

He came into this world one of two puppies, weighing less than a pound. From the moment he was born I was madly in love with this little spotted character with deeply soulful brown eyes. I knew from the moment I met him as a tiny little blind mouse looking puppy that he was my soulmate. Nacho traveled with me internationally, appearing on national television when I was in Toronto for Dragons Den and enjoyed every second of the time he got running on the beaches of Cozumel and Cabo in Mexico. He didn’t mind the hustle and bustle of New York City, but he was always happiest right by my side. That’s how we spent his last day. Sitting on the couch, snuggled under a blanket, just us, having quality time pretending time might stop and we’d never have to take him to that vet appointment. He lasted over twelve amazing years. He was there when I brought Kai home from the hospital. He was by my side through divorces, single parenting, relocating from one country to another, rolling with the punches and always being the one consistent man in my life. He taught me that I deserved unconditional love and he taught me that sometimes it’s ok to bite- especially if that person is a dick. It is somehow poetic that we lose him because his heart just grew too big, too big for him to breath, too big for him to keep going. That’s how he loved: HUGE and COMPLETELY. I’m pretty wrecked my friends- our entire family is, so bare with me while we adjust to our new normal. Go hug your pets. Sit with them and just be. Soak up every moment.
